Dating a friend's ex.

This is a really sticky situation.  For me, I would just never date a friend's ex, there are plenty of guys out there.. do you really have the share the same dating pool as your friend?  Granted, I know there are a lot of variables that factor into this decision so here are some questions you need to ask yourself.

1. How would your friend feel?  Is she ok with you dating her ex, did they end on good terms, will you two still be friends if you started dating her ex?  Are you willing to jeopardize your friendship for this new relationship?
2. How did he treat her?  If he didn't treat her right, then chances are he's not going to treat you well either.
3. Why did they break up?  Did they break up because they just weren't a match or did they break up because he couldn't commit, partied too much, etc.? 
4. How strong are your feelings?  If you just want to mess around then it's not worth ruining your friendship, if you have a really amazing connection, then it might be worth exploring.

Shoe Upgrade

I got these shoes a while ago (a year to be exact) but I haven't worn them because I felt they were a little plain.  Then I got the idea to decorate them on the cheap, so here's what you'll need:

• shoes $5 
• a hot glue gun (I borrowed mine from my dad - see how heavy duty it is?)
• glass beads $1.25 
• stretchy jewellery cord or string

First, I took the beads and measured how many I would need per strap.

Then using the string, I strung them by fours and tied knots at the ends.  I like to string them together so if one decides to fall off, then at least it's attached to the other ones, I just like to extra security.

Hot glue each bead onto the shoe, crazy glue would also work.

Press down and you're all set! Now go model your shoes for all to see!

Note to self.. don't go strawberry picking with open toe shoes.. the grass hurts.

Don't manipulate.

I think lots of people would deny being manipulative because it's not a nice attribute but the truth is that a lot of us do it.  Obviously, we want things our way, so what we often do is manipulate the people around us to get what we want.  Most of the time, we don't even realize we're doing it. 

For example, have you ever played dumb so that your significant other will do something for you?  "Oh, I don't know how to mow the lawn, cook dinner, drive, etc, etc."  While these examples seem harmless, in the long run, it can take a toll on your relationship.  Instead of playing down your own ability to do certain things, it's just better to ask.  Honesty is always the best policy.

Lastly, the greatest manipulation of them all... fake tears.  Oh boy, it's so easy to get your way when you burst out the tears because he just can't stand seeing you crying and he can't say no to the tears.  Again, when you fake cry, it's dishonest and it's not fair, you don't even give him a fighting chance.  Instead, use your words, use your logic.  If reason can't win your arguement, then it's not one to be won.  Don't fake it. 

Holding On

Though I'm tempted to whip out my fall wardrobe now that the weather is getting cooler, I'm still having trouble letting go of my summer wardrobe.  Lucky for me (and my floral sundresses), summer isn't over just yet.

Last week, I was working the entire week, over the weekend, I went to my cousin's wedding (I'll share some photos later) and yesterday I was at a movie prescreening so I've been super busy lately.  It feels nice to finally have some time to myself and just relax.  But of course I've got work again later on in the week and another wedding to attend this coming weekend.

I'm so excited for my friends' wedding, its a strange feeling when your friends start getting married... does that mean we're getting older?  Scary stuff.

Summer Date Ideas

My favourite thing about summer is that I get to spend more time with my boyfriend.  During the school year, we're both so busy with school and part-time jobs that it's hard to meet up.  There have been stretches where I didn't see him for 2 or 3 weeks.  Now that I'm done school, I'm curious about how that dynamic is going to change... I'll keep you all posted!

Since we've only got a few weeks of summer left, make the most of it by spending as much time as you can with your significant other.  Here are a few of my favourite summer date ideas:

1. Go to the beach and soak up the sun.
2. Go for a picnic in the park.
3. Go for a jog together.
4. Go strawberry/cherry/apple picking (whichever is still in season)
5. Go to a drive in movie.
6. Attend a street festival.
7. Go to the fair to play midway games and ride roller coasters.
8. Go to a farmers market and pick up fresh ingredients to make dinner together.

New Arrivals

Sorry for my absence lately, but it's for a very good reason... the twins are here!  They came a little earlier than expected but we're all so excited and happy that babies and mom are healthy.  So, I've been quite busy last week but I'm back!  The babies came so early, I didn't even get to post all of the baby shower pics before they arrived!

For the shower, I made all of the yummy treats which included sugar cookies, individual cheesecakes and white chocolate covered rice krispie balls.  For the take-aways, we just stuffed miniture tin pails with jelly beans.  Just looking at these pics make me hungry!  Hope you all have a great weekend and next Friday we'll resume with relationship 101!

Birthday Treat

Another year older... *sigh* but at least this is one of the best birthday's I've ever had.  Yesterday my sisters took me shopping so I could pick out my gifts and then my entire family went out for dinner and games at Dave and Busters (no matter how old you get, it's still fun to play arcade games).  Tonight I have a fancy dinner with my one and only.  Then this weekend, another birthday celebration dinner with my friends.  (I know, I know, I'm celebrating one occation 3 times but if I had it my way, I'd be celebrating all week!)
